Holiday DSA
Israeli Harvest's Holiday DSA (Diaspora Supported Agriculture) program is modeled after the popular community supported agriculture (CSA) programs in America. Instead of local produce, members of the DSA receive assortments of gourmet, natural Israeli food to enjoy during Rosh Hashanah, Hanukah, Tu B'Shavt and Passover.
Assortments are sent in the mail or delivered to participating congregations in the Washington/Baltimore area. You can join the Holiday DSA here.
Benefits to Israeli Farmers
Israeli farmers endure the same risks as most American farmers. They plant hoping that there will be a good market for their products. This is not always the case in a very competitive globalized market. In attention, Israeli farmers are under tremendous pressure to sell their farmland for housing. The DSA is a way to offer Israeli farmers steady, predictable support, helping ensure they stay in operation.
